Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about local HEIC conversion, the free trial, Standard and Plus pricing, and opening iPhone photos on Windows.

What is HEIC and HEIF?+

HEIC is Apple's default photo format for iPhones. HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) is the open standard it's based on—both use the same .heic and .heif file extensions. HEIC Converter supports both formats.

Does my data ever leave my computer?+

Never. HEIC Converter works 100% offline. Your photos are processed locally.

Is there a free trial?+

Yes! The free trial lets you convert up to 10 files to test the software. There is no time limit on the trial.

How much does HEIC Converter cost?+

Standard (personal) is $29.95 one-time. Conversion Library Plus is $29.95 as an add-on, or $59.90 for Standard + Plus. Commercial Standard is $250 one-time. All licenses are one-time purchases — no subscription.

Are my photos used for AI training?+

No. HEIC Converter runs entirely on your PC. Your photos never leave your computer, so they are never uploaded, stored, or used to train AI—unlike many "free" online converters whose terms of service allow using uploads to train models.

What is Conversion Library Plus?+

Standard converts HEIC and HEIF locally on your PC. Plus unlocks Conversion Library — search, Photo Map, EXIF, and previews of the files you converted. Same installer; unlock with a Plus key ($29.95 add-on, or $59.90 for Standard + Plus). Nothing is uploaded.

Getting an error opening HEIC files on Windows?+

If you see "format is unsupported," "We can't open this file," or "Unsupported file format," Windows doesn't have full HEIC support. Convert to JPG, PNG, WebP, or PDF with HEIC Converter instead.
